In 1820 he published a directory of Ireland, Scotland and the four northern counties of England, and in 1822 he published his first London Directory, plus directories of two hundred and eighty places in the midlands. He completed his survey of the United Kingdom in 1823 with a volume covering the home and southern counties. In this year he opened an office in Basing Lane in London and in 1834 he had an agent in Paris for the sale of his directories on the continent. In 1837 he moved his London office to 9 Fleet Street. He continued to publish a volume every year, and sometimes more than one a year, covering London and different blocks of counties, as well as Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Some of the volumes are only re-issues of earlier editions but, roughly speaking, a fresh survey was completed every six of seven years.
This the Pigot's Trade Directory of South Wales for 1835, completed during Pigot's third General Survey, of 1831-1840. The previous Pigot's South Wales directory was published in 1830.
